Yadin Porter de León from Heroku announces the launch of "Kubernetes World: Finding Your Path," a comprehensive 75-page ebook that addresses the CNCF community's biggest onboarding challenge by providing clear guidance for newcomers who feel "not technical enough" to contribute.

This resource transforms the previous reality of no comprehensive documentation into a structured guide that CNCF ambassadors can confidently hand to newcomers, addressing both practical pathways and psychological barriers that prevent engagement.

Developed in partnership with KubeFM and LearnKube, this initiative marks the beginning of a broader content strategy featuring project-specific resources, videos, podcasts, and documentation to help people become meaningful contributors to the Kubernetes ecosystem.

Bart: I'm Yadin Porter de León, I work at Heroku, and my role is [specific role details would be clarified if provided in the full context].

Yadin: My name is Yadin Porter de León. I am a Customer Advocacy and Thought Leadership Lead at Heroku, a Salesforce company.

Bart: I noticed that the transcript snippet is very short and doesn't contain much context. Could you provide the full transcript or more context about what news Yadin Porter de León is bringing to the audience? Without more information, I can't confidently add hyperlinks.

Yadin: I'm super excited because I think this is something everyone in the Kubernetes community will benefit from. We're launching a wonderful 75-page ebook called "Kubernetes World: Finding Your Path."

I've been in many conversations where CNCF community leaders are approached by someone saying, "I'm excited about being part of this community. Where do I start?" The leaders typically launch into a complex explanation about repositories, connections, and guidance.

Now, leaders can simply hand someone this guide and say, "Start here, read this, and learn from people who once thought they weren't technical enough to contribute." Many of these individuals are now CNCF ambassadors or significant project contributors, simply because someone believed in them, welcomed them, and showed them they were good enough.

This guide helps community leaders and individuals who want to level up their careers, get involved, and overcome fears about not being technical enough or knowing all the projects. It encourages people to start contributing.

Bart: And for you, what's the before and after? You had worked on a similar project in a previous company. But working on this now, what do you see as the before and after?

Yadin: The "before" is about finding documentation that I can hand to someone else to create a good onboarding experience. Previously, the onboarding was difficult. Now, a leader can say, "Here's the documentation for the community. It's not comprehensive, but it's enough to get you started."

The transformation is from no documentation to having documentation—a first step in helping people move forward in the right direction.

The before and after is really just about tooling. I go back to the analogy of when I go into a new project: I usually start with documentation because that's how I want to contribute. The same goes for community. Before, there wasn't good community documentation, so I want to come in and change that.

Bart: Now, looking ahead, what developments can our audience anticipate from Heroku when it comes to these kinds of resources?

Yadin: When it comes to community resources, Heroku will provide more consumable content. We've created a great story in concert with KubeFM and LearnKube, and we're excited about this partnership. The story will evolve into more content-oriented pieces that highlight individual projects. You'll be able to find repos, resources contextualized with specific individuals, projects, modes, or events—helping you get started with videos, podcasts, documentation, or ways to become a CNCF contributor.

This first guide offers a broad understanding of how to contribute and overcome potential fears. In the future, we'll have even more resources specific to each section. You'll be able to tackle one section at a time or dive into the entire content. We're currently looking for contributors for the 2026 version and are excited about what we'll produce.

Bart: And how can people get in touch with you, Yadin?

Yadin: The best place to find me is on LinkedIn at linkedin.com/Porter de León. Look me up, reach out to me, tell me what you're doing, what you're working on, how you're moving the community forward, what you want to see in the community. Hit me up and be part of it.
